Karen and Tania have both ridden from a young age, and have competed at many levels. As children they mainly competed in the showing ring and working hunter classes. Both represented England in Ireland, where the team came second and Tania was champion individually.

Tania was the BSPS Champion Working Hunter Pony of the Year riding ‘Little Diamond’

The girls then went on to ride horses and both qualified for Royal International and The Horse of the Year Show, in Working Hunter and Hack classes, Tania being placed 2nd on Maelstrum at the Royal International in Working Hunter Class.

Karen has competed in affilliated dressage gaining points at Prelim, Novice and Elementary Levels. She has also done BSJA being placed 2nd in the British Novice Finals at the Horse of the year Show.

Recently both Karen and Tania have competed British Eventing and have been placed several times. Karen and Native Caption were awarded a prize for the North West Intro Horse wih the most points having won 5 events in 2006.

Tania has been Point-to-pointing over the last few years and has won several races including a Hunter Chase at Ayr in 2005.

In 2007, Karen and Native Caption won several Intro Events in the North West and won the Shires Leading Intro Horse, Shires Leading Overall Horse and went onto win the Retrained Racehorse of the Year 2007 (Affiliated Eventing).

We are very proud of all our achievements in 2007, but especially those of Karen and Donald (Native Caption). Throughout the year they competed at several British Events, their consistant placings have earned them the following awards:

  • The Shires Intro Leading Horse

  • The Shires Overall Leading Horse

  • SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse Performance Champion 2007 (Affiliated Eventing)

The girls are now retraining 3 new ex-racehorses and hope to event them later in the year. Schuh Shine was in training with Veneitia Williams and won 9 out of 17 over both Chase fences and Hurdles.

Next to Nothing won 2 Chases under rules and 2 point-to-points and he is the horse that Tania won on at Ayr in 2005. Risington was bought for Tania last season to compete point-to-point, but sadly broke down after his second race, he is currently training for his new career along with the other boys!

Next to Nothing (Nicky) had a double clear in his first ODE at Smallwood in May 2008, he is taking to his new career very well!

Also in May, the girls took some more of their ex-racehorses to a showing class specifically for ex racers – The Retrained Racehorse Challenge. Karen and Native Caption qualified for the Championships to be held at Addington Mannor in September.

Tania Retired from racing in May 2008, and is now working to further the careers of all the ‘boys’ at home!

Next to Nothing (Nicky) competed in his first British Event (Tri-zone) and he finished on his dressage score and won the class. Also at the same Tri-zone Event one of our youngsters achieved a 6th place finishing on her dressage score. Forever an Investment was ridden by Helen Gannon who has been riding her for the last 6 months. This was the first BE for both of them and we were very pleased by their results.

We also have our final addition to our family of race horses, Mytimie is 14yrs old and has been a faithful pointer of Tania’s having raced for 4 years and has won 3 races and placed several times. He is half brother to Native Caption so we are hoping that he will follow in his brothers footsteps!

Schuh Shine won his first dressage with 70% at a local riding club show and he also won a Riding Horse Class at PHRC.

Risington tried his hand in a ridden hunter class and finished in second place thanks to his good gallop!!

Native Caption has once again, won the SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse Performance Champion – Affiliated Eventing Section for 2008.

Karen and Donald did not manage to compete at many events due to him being poorly and missing the first few events. However, once they started, there was no stopping him and he won 3 times and came 2nd twice and placed several times.

Karen hopes to win this award next year on one of our many ex-racers, currently in training!

Dunston Trigger came 3rd in the same SEIB Racehorse to Riding Horse Performance Champion – Affiliated Eventing Section for 2008.
